Hi there. My name is Kate Suazo and I'm the Professional Advocate and Case Manager here at Fort Lewis College.
You can find me housed in the Counseling Center, along with our amazing Counseling Center staff. And that's exactly what I'm here to talk to you about today. We have so many resources for you on campus. Our Counseling Center, Student Wellness, and the Health Center are just a few of those resources.
First, I'm going to talk to you a little bit about the Counseling Center. We have tons of options for you and your mental health, individual counseling, group therapy, couples therapy, advocacy and case management, that's me, confidential sexual assault services. And all of those are encompassed in those four free sessions that you get that come along with your student fees. You can schedule an appointment with us, do an intake, fill out some paperwork, or you can just come into our walk in times and get to know some of us. We're here for you. We've worked really closely with our student leaders who are part of WellPAC, the Wellness Peer Advisory Council. WellPAC is housed under Student Wellness Initiatives, which is in the Leadership Center. WellPAC is a group of student leaders on our campus that really just meet students where they're at in terms of relationships, healthy choices, empowering students to really experience College in a healthy and safe way. They also have a peer support office. Highly trained students who have done so many different trainings are holding holding office hours to meet and guide you through the many things that come along with your college experience. They really approach this in a non judgmental and safe way, just like we do at the Counseling Center. They also hold events like the Stressfest that's going on at the end of the year. It's a way to get to know each other, take a breather, maybe pet some puppies. Not only are they there to support you, but they're also there to make college fun.
Lastly, we have the Health Center. The Health Center is so important because we know that not only is physical health important, but mental health is important. And our Health Center really brings those two things together. They're a collaborative healthcare environment, which just means that they like to work with all of us to make sure that your health and well being is our number one priority. We have so many services in our Health Center, labs, an in house pharmacy. You can call them and set up an appointment at any time, and our awesome staff in there is going to be there to support you.
While these three different services all seem like really separate, we actually all work together. And we all find ways to support you. Just because one of us might not be able to, doesn't mean we can't direct you in the right way. If you want more information about these different things, including all of our student wellness and the health and wellness collaborative at Fort Lewis College, you can check out the link below. That's going to be a good way to get all the information you need to feel prepared about your health and well being in Fort Lewis. It's important to take care of yourself and others, which is why we created this environment that you attend these events. You can attend counseling, Health Center appointments, with people you trust and love. Check out all of the Instagrams and all of the web pages for these awesome groups. Get to know us more, ask us questions. That's what we're here for. We know that college can be scary. And we know that it can be a time where we might not really know what the best decision is. The Health Center, Student Wellness, WellPAC, and the Counseling Center are all here to help guide you in that direction. We're all here to help you decide what's the best decision for you. Maybe not for your peers, maybe not for your friends, but what's the best decision for you? How are you going to make your Fort Lewis experience a strong and healthy one? That's what we're here for.
Feel free to reach out to us at any time. We will answer any of your questions, and we are just so excited to have you at Fort Lewis College. Thanks, everyone.
